Erie Canal

Robbie, Tim, Molly and Jack sing the Erie Canal song.

My children all learned this song in 4th grade and while some people (Robbie) may pretend they don't know all the words or motions...this entire family knows that song by heart!  We were all born and raised near the Erie Canal, after all!

On Friday I had the pleasure of joining Jack and Tim, along with all the fourth grade classes, on the Colonial Belle.  We took a ride on the Erie Canal from Fairport to Pittsford and through Lock 32.  This was our first time through a lock and it was very cool!  We saw a lot of wildlife along the way.  Everyone was impressed by the very LOW bridges and if you didn't duck below the red railing of the boat you would not only bang your head or loose a limb, you quickly got escorted below deck by a very cranky crew member!

While the day started out foggy and raining, midway through the trip they let us on the upper deck and by the time we reached our destination the sun came out.
