Robert has a life threatening food allergy to milk and milk products and has had a number of reactions in the past 18 years. We don't let this stop us from camping twice a year! However, every time we go camping we try very hard to prepare for any situation that might involve accidental ingestion of milk, or exposure to milk, which may result in a trip to the hospital. Unfortunately it is common for him to have a reaction while camping. These reactions tend to happen because there is always plenty of food that isn't "safe" due to the fact that we camp with so many friends. Rob has had to be treated at Hospitals in Montour Falls and also in Bath, New York a number of times, and while we won't name names (Karen), we know that accidents happen.
When we arrived at our cabin this year in Watkins Glen, we were surprised to find that they provided supplies they haven't in past years, like sheets, blankets and pillows. The cabin also had hand soap by the sink.
Yes, that says "Milk Protein" and yes it really does have milk as an ingredient. Rest assured, Robbie didn't need to get his mouth washed out with soap, that would have been Molly (OMG I am kidding Lynne). Nor did Rob even use this to wash his hands, just to be safe.
However, this trip I decided to take the kids on a new adventure and found a great place to go called "Farm Sanctuary". Robbie thoroughly enjoyed it and SURVIVED without incident
Damn I was waiting for a big red circle with a red slash thru it to be superimposed over the poor cow with Rob in the foreground.
