The Beach

84 degrees and sunny. The only day of the summer so far to take a trip to Kershaw Beach. We had a blast. Robert chose to sleep in and hang out with a friend at home. Jack, Tim, Molly and Mom packed a lunch, some buckets and off we went to play in the sand in swim in the Lake. It was a great time!

Middle School Bedroom Redo

Before:After:
For Molly's 11th Birthday she REALLY wanted her room redone in a more teenage style. (Okay when did 11 become a teenager???). Anyway... she wanted a daybed. We went shopping at many furniture stores and found out that the nice daybeds are any where from $500 to $1,000 . NOT. So her wonderful father was easily convinced that he could make one for her instead for MUCH less. He did and it came out absolutely beautiful. It is hard to see from the picture the gorgeous detail of the bead board and how sturdy it is. The chair is from a garage sale (thanks Heather.) and since the squirrels were digging it way too much on the front porch we added a terrific pillow and put it in Molly's room. The quilt Molly picked out from Target and we matched the wall paint to the quilt. The wall paint is called "Mint Whisper". It is such a great color! Molly also painted the three paintings above her daybed. I have one more set of curtains for the small window that aren't quite finished...but she now has a desk in her room and since we put the full size bed in Jack and Tim's room she has much more space to hang out. When Molly goes to college I decided I like her room and will be sleeping in there on the nights daddy snores.

TWINS?

Are they even related? The identical twins Jack and Timothy look so different these days. We think it is just the different hairstyles... although the different personalities certainly play into it too. Jack opts for the long hair that mom and dad really want kept out of his eyes please. Tim goes for the easy short cut that shows off his trademark cowlick. Either way, they are as handsome as ever!

Jack Is Thrilled To Announce...

It's a very exciting day at the Marshall Marks household. Jack is so proud that he has become the "father" to sextuplets. Yes, that's right, between yesterday and today all six wren eggs have hatched. When Jack last checked the nest yesterday afternoon there was only one, very bald, very small (obviously a preemie) baby chick...but today all six are there and thriving. The mother and father wren are nearby and none to happy that we are peaking in on the new arrivals. As you can see from the photos, the mother bird sometimes flies out of the bird house when Jack opens the top. They feed the baby birds mostly insects. Congratulations Jack... another successful year of bird hatchings!

Camping!

Every year we go camping with friends. In the spring we go to Watkins Glen KOA. There is so much to do there, from swimming, to miniature golf, hiking in the woods, etc. My friend Karen and I are happy to sit and read all weekend long. The boys like to cook and we are thrilled to eat their creations. We went for a hike and the boys had a blast (including the big boys). Hanging out by the fire day and night just talking with friends makes for the best holiday weekend!

Baseball, Softball, Baseball...

Tim and his buddy hang out and chat while Robbie finishes one of his Pony League games. Daddy helps Tim put on his catcher's gear he got for his birthday.

The kids on a Saturday all dressed and ready for the fields. This is the season we are at the fields every night of the week and then most of the day on Saturday. Jack and Tim are in their second year of Rookie and Molly is in the Junior Softball League. This is Robbie's last year in the Pony League... next year he'll have to find an adult league if he wants to play. Jack and Tim play for the Moose Lodge, Molly is playing for Patrick Pontiac and Rob is playing for Read's Ice Cream (yea we get the irony). Molly has been doing a lot of pitching. Rob enjoys second base and Jack and Tim get a lot of time at shortstop, first, pitcher's mound and catching. It's been a great season so far.

First Communion

In May Jack and Tim made thier first communion at Saint Joseph's Church in Rush. Although they are identical twins they are very different in their tastes. Tim likes his hair short and Jack likes his hair long. Timothy would have liked to wear a tux... but settled for a nice shirt and tie. Jack on the otherhand, really would have rather been in a t-shirt, but we found a nice button down shirt at the mall he could live with. It was a very special day and we were proud of both of the boys. Mimi and Papa came to the Mass and then over for lunch afterwards. It was a lovely day.
