Spring Break = Crafts

Start with some scrabble tiles.
 Add a lot of friends.
 Pick out some decorative paper.
There is plenty to choose from!

Draw some tiny pictures or designs and glue the paper on the tile.

Carefully apply the Modge Podge Dimensional Magic.

 Let it dry.

Hold it up so we can see!

Opening Day!

Opening Day at Frontier Field! The Rochester Red Wings hosted the Scranton Yankees
on Saturday, April 9th.
We went to enjoy the game, the beautiful weather,
honor our Military members and their families,
and eat EVERYTHING in sight!

Members of the Color Guard from every branch of the military
on the field for the national anthem.

Our hero!  Thank you Matt for everything you do!

Jack has cotton candy!
Tim has cotton candy after he started the game with a free hot dog!
Molly had:
Two hot dogs, cotton candy, hot chocolate, peanuts, pretzels, and dip n' dots.
Can you say tummy ache?

Thanks Uncle Jello for buying us cotton candy!
Sitting with the members of the military.  What an honor!
Half way through the eating fest baseball game, still feeling good!
We moved to the grassy hill.  It was chilly in the shade so we sat in the sun for a bit.
The kids are eating nuts and pretzels here.
Hi Tim!
Uncle Jello bought the kids whatever they wanted!  Jack wanted kettle corn - an entire bag all to himself.  It took him a few days, but he finished it!

The Red Wings won!  And more importantly, no one puked!

Gifts that keep on Giving

Last weekend we celebrated Jack and Tim's 10th birthday.  The boys wrote birthday wish lists for gift ideas and posted them on the fridge.  Some of the things they got were from the list, and some were just terrific finds from thrifty resources like Craigslist and the Goodwill.

Here Jack is so excited to be holding his new Eagles Jersey.  As I stood in the Victor Goodwill texting Robbie to see if #81 Owens is even still a player, I decided that spending a whopping $5.99 on a jersey that looks brand new would be worth it even if he he wasn't a player anymore.

Timmy even got a really cool Under armour sweatshirt that he wears all the time now.  You just gotta love the Goodwill!  And I'm all about recycling!!

For more than half of their lives Legos have been a huge part of it!  The twins still love Legos, especially Star Wars Legos.
Timothy really wanted this DSi kit.  It was available only online, which I didn't realize until the weekend before the birthday celebration.  It finally came at 4:30 pm on the afternoon we were scheduled to do cake and presents.  The wrapping paper was on this gift for all of about 15 minutes!
I'm not exactly sure why a 10 year old boy would want a medicine ball.  But he did!  And I guess they all use it when playing basketball to build strength...or something.  As an ex-basketball star, Daddy was all over this one!
Timothy learned how to ride a two wheeler when he was barely three years old.  We decided it was high time he learned how to ride a unicycle.  Hey, Uncle John could!  Craigslist was the source for this nifty and hard to find item.  Robbie's friends had more fun trying it out over the weekend.  Sean ended up to be the best circus act.
But the best gift by far was this waffle iron that Jack asked for!  He really, really wanted one!  Ever since Christmas when Aunt Katie made waffles here for breakfast, he has been asking for one.  What a thrill to open this for his birthday and of course that night he made bunches of them for snack for everyone.  We even found a "Rob safe" waffle mix and waffles are made now for meals and snacks a few times a week.

Have Your Cake and Eat it Too!

In our house we have birthday traditions.  In addition to a special birthday dinner and use of the "red plate", you also get a cake with your name on it and we sing to you.  After making a wish, you blow out your own candles.

These are small, but important traditions in our house.

Jack and Tim celebrated their 10th birthday over the weekend.  Just as Tim was set to blow out his candles, Daddy told a funny story about how Hannah (the kid's cousin) set her cake on fire one year with a gummy bear, drink umbrella and trick candles.  Timmy's candle blowing was an "epic fail", as Molly would say, because he was laughing so hard.  This, in turn, sent Jack into fits of giggles.

The pictures are priceless.

Make a wish, Tim!

Make a wish, Jack!

Ready, set, blow!

Uh oh, you laughed in the middle of that!

Try again!  Now blow, silly!
It's funny when your twin can't blow out the candles!

Okay, really, try again Timmy.  We'll stop laughing along with you.

Or maybe not. Maybe Jack can't stop the giggles.

Still three candles lit, Tim, try again buddy!

But, really, you have to stop laughing first.
Take a deep breath!
Yipee!  Finally success.  Happy Birthday boys.
